Asymmetric Surface

Asymmetric Surface Mounted is an LED luminaire that throws its light to one side rather than spreading it symmetrically downward. What that distribution answers to is wall washing: the luminaire mounts on the ceiling parallel to a wall and directs light at the vertical surface. The result is an even brightness down the wall; texture and colour come out, and the room reads taller and wider.

A second use for asymmetric optics is shelf and display lighting. Because the light arrives from above and at an angle rather than from the front, no shadow falls across the goods; on retail and library shelving that difference bears directly on legibility.

The product is manufactured in fifteen codes. Lengths are 573, 854, 1134, 1415, 1695, 1976, 2256, 2537 and 2817 mm. Lengths up to 1976 mm carry two LED densities: the standard L15C and the denser L25C. PL15U12L15C opens the range at 14 W and 950 lm; PL15U17L25C reaches the highest output at 70 W and 5,005 lm. Body width is 63 mm and height 93 mm; weight ranges from 1.7 kg to 4.9 kg. By the nature of asymmetric optics the flux figures sit below those of symmetric models, since the light is directed into a narrow angle.

The aluminium body is offered in white and silver; the converter is a long-life, ENEC-compliant constant current type. LED modules from LUMILEDS, OSRAM and NICHIA are rated at 60,000 hours. Suitable for shopping malls, markets, offices, meeting rooms, living rooms, waiting lounges, stores, hospitals, schools, corridors, showrooms, libraries, museums and exhibition areas.
